Enhancing Hyperion Deployment

Symantec has been using Hyperion Business Performance Management (BPM) applications as key components of its reporting and analytical strategy since 1995. Over 800 users in 36 countries use the Hyperion BPM suite's planning, forecasting and consolidation capabilities.

The Challenge

Symantec's Financial System's Group needed to synchronize data in its Oracle Hyperion applications and data warehouse for reporting. The objective was to easily and cost-effectively automate these processes, while ensuring data security and providing an audit trail.

The Solution

Using Star Integration Server, the company created a two-way flow of data, tightly coupling its Hyperion BPM systems and its operational data store housed in a data warehouse. Star Integration Server allows seamless, reliable and automated sharing of data between the company's Hyperion Financial Management and Planning applications, as well as data warehouse and reporting.

The Result

Star Integration Server made it easy to spin custom reporting cubes with added dimensionality directly from the data warehouse. It opened up reporting options, such as business Objects, Hyperion Intelligence and Excel. The company benefits from consistent Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliant data across all systems, and dramatically reduced SOX costs and total cost of ownership across all financial applications.
