Finance and IT Speak a Common
Language at Logitech
Logitech is a $750M global company that sells a wide variety of consumer electronic products, including computer peripherals and music players. Because Oracle Hyperion applications are central to its financial management and reporting systems, Logitech needed to leverage its investment in those applications by integrating Hyperion data with its corporate data systems.
The Challenge
Logitech needed to extract consolidated data from Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) into its Hyperion Planning environment in a timely and efficient manner. HFM business rules were maintained in two separate locations, FFM and Planning, causing inconsistent data across systems.
The Solution
Star Integration Server's robust extraction process allowed the creation of a data enablement platform that included Hyperion data in the company's data warehouse initiative.
The Result
Logitech's staff was able to create automated monthly extracts of consolidated actual data from HFM, and feed it directly into the Hyperion Planning system. As a result, they can update their monthly full-year forecasts with actual data to support flash reporting.
Logitech can extract all HFM consolidated content in as little as 20 minutes, and duplicate that data in Hyperion Planning while simultaneously feeding the corporate data warehouse—in a fully automated and secure manner.
Logitech was also able to sunset a home-grown SQL Server mapping and transformation tool that transformed proprietary HFM backup files into a format for loading into the Planning system. The result was a considerable reduction IT Group support and maintenance costs, combined with increased process reliability for finance users.
